The Science and Technology Institute of São José dos Campos (ICT) of Unesp was represented, during fifty years, by the School of Dentistry of São José dos Campos (FOSJC), considered, during this period, a national reference in forming of dental surgeons, and recognized by its high competence in the scientific production and performance of extension activities. From 2013, with the implementation of the Environmental Engineering course, the ICT was created, aligned to the needs and to the characteristics of a region admittedly devoted to the development of science, technology and innovation, and strengthening the role of Unesp in the state of São Paulo. ICT is located in two locations in the city of São José dos Campos, one in the central area of the city and another one in an upscale area of one of the most important technology hubs in Brazil, the Technology Park of Vale do Paraíba.

The course of Dentistry of ICT is based on a political-pedagogical project constantly updated, mindful of the needs of a new conception of health professional for the country, meeting the national curriculum guidelines. The undergraduate course in Environmental Engineering has a multidisciplinary curriculum, encompassing the areas of biological, exact, and social sciences. The two first years of the course include basic subjects, common to all engineering courses, and in the following years, subjects are thought with specific contents.

ICT has two stricto sensu graduate programs. The Graduate Program in Oral Biopathology is characterized and has been prominent for being a multidisciplinary program, focused on basic sciences of the area of health and emphasis in Dentistry. The Graduate Program in Restorative Dentistry aims at the training and promotion of the human being in its entirety. For such, it counts with the participation of qualifi ed professors with solid and updated knowledge in the area of dentistry.

In São José dos Campos campus, the extension activity has grown substantially and has taken a dimension of fundamental importance for the training of the undergraduate student, allowing for the development of actions directed to the full context of society and of citizenship.
