Located 78 kilometers from the capital of São Paulo state, São Vicente lies on the midsouth coast of the state, in the heart of the region known as Baixada Santista. Founded in 1532, it is considered to be the oldest city in the country and has formerly been the state capital for 177 years. For this reason, it is known as the “Monument City to the Nation’s History”. With an area of just 146 km2, six beaches, and about 320,000 inhabitants, São Vicente offers many interesting sights, such as The Mother Church of São Vicente Martir, built in 1757 close to the beach where the village of São Vicente was officially founded.
