Located in the far western portion of the state of São Paulo, 780 km from the state capital, the municipal district of Rosana, known as the “Heart of Pontal do Paranapanema”. Has approximately 23,000 inhabitants and an area of 741 km². The climate is subtropical with dry winters. The occupation of the area was triggered around 1952 by the foreseen construction of the “Dourados” branch of the Sorocabana Railway heading to Mato Grosso. The city was named in honor of the daughter of one of the shareholders of the company which owned the land on which the city was founded.
