Located in the northeast of the state, 350 km from São Paulo city, Jaboticabal has a population of approximately 70,000 inhabitants. The city lies on an area of 707 km2 where temperature averages about 22 ºC. Jaboticabal owes its name to the jaboticabeiras (trees of the myrtle family) that were once abundant in the region, although currently scarce.
