SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING – FEIS
The courses of Agronomy and Zootechnics prepare professionals with a broad training. The Biological Sciences interface with the Agronomy and privilege the laboratory practice. The course of Civil Engineering qualifies the student to work in the planning, project and administration of several types of works and services. The students of Mechanical Engineering are enabled to create and to operate complex systems. The course of Electrical Engineering prepares the students to design and build electric machines, design building and industrial electrical installations, plan, design and operate electric power generation, transmission and distribution systems. In the area of Electronics, the students are qualifi ed to design and construct electronic, analog and/or digital equipment and control systems, and may also specialize in the areas of telecommunications and industrial automation. The course of Physics has a curriculum structure that offers to the student a broad training. The licentiate degree in Mathematics seeks to train professionals committed to the improvement of the elementary and high school, and qualified to use current educational and technological tools.
To support its numerous projects, FEIS counts with the support of The Foundation of Teaching and Research of Ilha Solteira (Fepisa), a legal institution with administrative and financial autonomy; and the Support Center to the Teaching of Sciences and Mathematics (Naecim), which contributes to the improvement of these subjects in the elementary schools of Ilha Solteira and region.
Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão (The Teaching, Research and Extension Farm), with 1,600 hectares, allows for the teaching of practical classes and experiments in farming and cattle raising, and is also a demonstration fi eld for technicians and farmers of the region. There, the students accompany, step by step, the development of researches with different agricultural crops, soil conservation, agricultural mechanization, ensilage, pasture management, genetic improvement of animals, ecology, artificial insemination, nutrition and animal production, fertilization and nutrition of plants, irrigation, climatology, phytopathology, entomology, phytosanitary management, seed production and silviculture.
