In both campuses where the course is offered, the focus is mainly on agribusiness.
When managing human, material and financial resources of a company or organization, business administrators must plan their strategies to improve efficiency and competitiveness towards challenges of a global society. They must have a diversified vision to understand needs, select promising opportunities and identify change standards and institutions potentiality.
Administrators work in diverse areas – from hospitals, factories, schools and NGOs to companies in the public sector or those affiliated to the Internet. They are also involved in publicity and marketing, product sales and company services.
Administration courses offered at UNESP give students the opportunity to participate in academic exchange programs. This experience allows them to learn from other country’s cultures and how its management practice works.
In the Jaboticabal campus, undergraduate students are provided with means to understand company’s structural complexity, associated to changes in such a competitive atmosphere. The young professional must be able to suggest measures to achieve company’s short, medium and long term goals, seeking for output sustainability and benefits in the market.
In order to provide practical experience to students, they are encouraged to participate in conferences, scientific researches and extension activities. Among the last ones, for instance, there’s a proposal of forming managers for third sector organizations called Supporting Project.
The night program is offered in a campus that prioritizes Agrarian Sciences. Thus, students have in their academic curriculum many courses that deal with the particularities of rural enterprises management and changes in Brazilian agro-industrial market.
In Tupã, undergraduate studies are offered both in the morning and night periods. The major is intended for educating professionals able of creating, managing and developing activities linked mainly to agribusiness, without neglecting other economic sectors. To provide a global view of the profession, the program offers a system that proposes an interaction among courses, with the accomplishment of Guided Interdisciplinary Works.
Students are also encouraged to participate in university extension programs, such as the Voluntários S.A. project, where students get involved in social activism in their local community. There are also other initiatives, such as the junior enterprise, which executes consultancy projects at low costs, and the college preparatory course, with a high passing rate of low-income candidates.
Furthermore, students have the opportunity of carrying out studies at Administration and Agribusiness Research Center (CEPEAGRO), a result of a regional development project done by the campus.
